Pattern Description:

This thread catcher pattern has easy to follow instructions and clear illustrations to walk you through the process of making a standard thread catcher. It also includes 4 alternate options for construction. Embellish (or not) to your heart's content!

The thread catchers are soft, flexible, portable and collapsible...perfect for your on-the-go hand work projects. They can also be used for holding small gifts, gift cards, mini-charms, chocolate, you name it! They finish at approximately 4" wide x 3.25" deep x 4.5" high.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 4" wide x 3.25" deep x 4.5" high


  • 2 fat eighths (each approx 9" x 22")
  • size 8 thread, perle cotton or embroidery floss for handstiching

You Will Also Need:

  • embellishments of your choice, such as buttons, ric rac, etc. (optional)
  • (1) 9" x 15" piece of quilt batting (optional)
  • (1) 8" x 14" light or midweight fusible interfacting (optional)
