When I was 3, my grandmother let me "stitch" on scraps with yarn and a darning needle. The rest, as they say, is history.

Orpheline Totes

from Patience
(9) Name: 'Sewing : Orpheline Totes
Orpheline Totes
Orpheline Totes

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Use a sewing machine
  • Cut fabric

Pattern Description:

I make quilts, and that means I also make quilt blocks. Sometimes, I will make a block to see how it looks before committing to an entire quilt. And sometimes, I decide not to make the quilt. This results in the orphan block. As time goes by, these blocks add up, and it's difficult to just toss them. Whatever your reason for having an orphan block, here's a handy tote bag that is made just to showcase that poor orpheline. This also works well with those printed cheater panels that are supposed to be turned into pillows. Too often, the pillow never happens. I know, because I have quite a few that ended up in someone's yard sale and now live at my house.
