Basic Skills Necessary:

  • quilt piecing
  • sewing thick layers of fabric
  • machine quilting or quilt tying
  • quilt binding

Pattern Description:

I love having a Moses basket for my newborns so I can keep my little one right by my side during those first sleepy weeks. When I found out my 6th little bundle was going to be a girl I designed this basket so it could be a show case for a whole bunch of sweet fabrics.

The SweetPod sleep pod is the perfect spot to lay a sleeping baby. It has a removable, washable bumper pad and mattress cover. It has carrying handles to make moving it from room to room easy (though I don't recommend carrying it with a baby inside), and pockets for storing little necessities like pacifiers or wipes.

All of the supplies for this project are available at your local craft store.

  • 1 1/4 yd 60" wide canvas duck for basket outer
  • 1 2/3 yds quilt fabric for pocket and lining
  • 2/3 yd flannel to cover foam
  • 5 cute print fat quarters (or 1/4 yd cuts) for bumper pad front
  • 1 yd. quilt fabric for back of bumper and ties
  • 2/3 yd. quilt fabric for mattress cover

  • 4 12"x18" pieces of extra stiff #7 plastic canvas
