Many, many many years ago I came home from college to find my mother with a stack of Christmas charm squares. She wanted to make a tree skirt but ran out of steam. So I used her hand cut (no rotary cutter) from a cardboard template 7" charm squares and designed a tree skirt! Actually she had cut enough for two! Ive since used the same design to make tree skirts from tiny to large over the years. Before last Christmas I wanted to use some FQs I had to make a new one and decided to write it up as a pattern. BTW my mom and I still use those original tree skirts every Christmas.
*Please note this tree skirt easily fits a 5-6 foot tree. Tree used in picture was for display purposes.
I remember always having a large plastic red sewing box. It was filled with scraps of material and lace and beads and other fun little things. When my great grandmother moved into a nursing home I got a very large garbage bag full of her crafting supplies of all kinds. I cant remember a time when I was not sewing or crafting something.
