Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic embroidery stitches: Backstitch and Blanket stitch

Pattern Description:

My hoop art project appeared in the March 2012 issue of Simply Handmade--Sewing! It's quick to make and will enhance any room. Another fun way to use those great yo-yos!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished piece measures approximately 10" round.


  • Clover Quick Yo-Yo Maker Large (Orange)
  • 14" square of linen or cotton fabric for background
  • 7" x 8" piece brown brown cotton fabric
  • Ten 3 3/4" squares of a variety of green-toned, and a few gold-toned, cotton fabric
  • 11" square piece green wool felt

You Will Also Need:

  • Embroidery floss in brown and green
  • Sewable fusible web
  • Strong sewing or quilting thread
  • Air erasable marking pen and black micron pen
  • 10" wooden embroidery hoop
  • Fabric glue, paint or stain for hoop (optional), brushes for glue and paint, crewel needle, scissors. Iron and pressing cloth
