Pattern Description:

Fast! Simple! Charming!
A quilt for a child to love.

The big bold design and the super-simple freezer paper technique makes this applique so easy even a child can help with the work and the quilt come together in just a few hours!

Bigger is not always better . The 40" x 52" is a good size for a throw while reading to your child on the couch yet big enough to cover a sleeping child. But if the size does not suit your needs, the design lends itself well to customizing the size easily. Widen the strips or add more to make larger, or leave off some strips to make a smaller version.


Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Approximately 40" x 52"


  • 1 yard (44-45") yellow/white cottonfor background & strip at bottom o
  • 1 yard main cat color
  • 1/4 yard coordinating cat color
  • Blue scraps for mice
  • scrap for neckties for cat & mice
  • Scraps for facial features: black for pupils & nose, white for eyes.
  • Blue Strips: 2 strips cut 2.5" x 36"
  • Orange Strips: 3 strips cut 2.5" x 36"
  • Black Flange: 2 strips cut 1.5" x 36"
  • Black Border: 5 strips cut the width of the fabric x 2.5"
  • Backing & Binding: 2 yards
  • Embroidery floss for facial features: black or brown
  • Freezer paper for applique
  • Glue stick & quilt basting spray
  • Batting of choice

  • Basic sewing notions, iron, and tape
