Pattern Description:

Pretty bluebirds will add color and style to any room, and they are so fun and easy to do with our pattern and complete instructions. Just a few pieces of wool felt and your sewing machine and everything looks custom chic. Voila!

Instructions are included to make pillows just like these. The applique pattern can also be applied to other projects. They will look just as charming gracing a bag, a quilt, a dishtowel. or an apron!

Our original Bluebirds & Leaves pattern includes instructions for two different quilted pillow covers, pattern shapes for bluebirds in two sizes, three leaf shapes, and three quilting patterns for Japanese Sashiko hand quilting.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 20"x20"

Materials:

  • Wool felt in two shades of blue, two shades of green, yellow, and orange
  • 3/4 yd. fabric for each pillow top borders, back, and ties
  • 2/3 yd. contrasting fabric for pillow center
  • 5/8 yd. fabric for lining (enough for both pillows)
  • 21"x21" quilt batting for each pillow

You Will Also Need:

  • Black beads for bird eyes
  • Thread in colors to match felt
  • Brown ric rac trim or bias tape
  • 20" pillow insert
