Pattern Description:

Whether her day brings a ride on the carousel, ring tossing on the midway or a cotton candy treat, the Carnival Skort will keep her feeling comfortable and looking stylish! Little girls will be sure to love the playfulness of this skort while moms will appreciate both its style and its modesty. The panels can be sewn with exposed raw edges or hidden raw edges, giving you two looks in one pattern. Both options are sewn with a raw edge hem that takes advantage of that great curl that you get when sewing with jersey knits!

The Carnival Skort is part of the Jersey Love series by Fishsticks Designs. These patterns are designed specifically for stretch cotton/spandex or cotton/lycra jerseys. (Some Jersey Love patterns can also be used with other knits, so be sure to check the fabric recommendations.) Many of the edges are left raw to take advantage of the way that jerseys curl up after washing and drying.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 12mths to 12 yr

  • Cotton or cotton blend jerseys are recommended for the best results. (Cotton or cotton blend interlocks will work for the skirt and shorts, but they will not curl on the edges.)
  • Cotton/spandex or cotton/lycra jersey or rib knit for waistband (Cotton knits without spandex or lycra will not have the recovery to work properly in the waistband.)
  • Yardage: Based on 60" wide knit fabrics.
  • 12 months to 3T: For shorts & waistband: 1/2 yard For skirt panels in a single fabric: 3/4 yard OR For skirt panels in multiple fabrics: 3/8 yard of each fabric
  • 4T to 6: For shorts & waistband: 5/8 yard For skirt panels in a single fabric: 7/8 yard OR For skirt panels in multiple fabrics: 1/2 yard of each fabric
  • 7/8 to 12: For shorts & waistband: 3/4 yard For skirt panels in a single fabric: 1 yard OR For skirt panels in multiple fabrics: 5/8 yard of each fabric
