This gorgeous dress has plenty of vintage charm! The beautiful ruffled bodice was a popular style in the 40's and 50's......it is updated here with a tuxedo style bib. The outer skirt can be made with two bow trimmed chevron edge pockets, or a ruched ruffle around the bottom. The underskirt has a ruffled bottom and adds plenty of fullness to this adorable dress. The waistband with two generous ties completes the look. You can also make a simplified version of this dress by omitting one of the skirts. Make a short dress that can be worn with bloomers, leggings or ruffle pants underneath, or make a single skirted dress by omitting the overskirt. You can also substitute lace for the bodice ruffle for a romantic look. Appropriate for an intermediate sewist, although a confident beginner could also make this dress, since the level of instruction is so detailed. Includes sizes 6-12 months up to size 8. Happy sewing!
I am a mother of 3, wife, veterinarian, and pattern designer. My love of little girl clothing began after my daughter was born....I love seeing her dressed like a little girl! I particularly love the vintage styles, and enjoy bringing back classic styles to the modern day!
