There are so many reasons to love a reversible skirt, especially when it comes to the little girl(s) in your life. Imagine the moment on a lovely day out when your Little Miss drops ice cream on her clean skirt - no problem - simply flip it round to the other side and she's good to go! Or she could wear one side for playing in, then flip it around for a different look to go and get lunch, visit grandma, or attend that all important birthday party. You could even make a few to pack in her suitcase, effectively doubling the amount of cute looks whilst saving on baggage weight.
This is a great project for any beginner seamstress:
There is no pattern to cut, as the simple measurements are based directly on your child's body measurements, so it will fit perfectly.
The elasticated waist ensures that the skirt fits well, is easy for her to put on, and most crucially, is comfortable to wear.
It has a low fabric requirement
There is no edge finishing or serger/overlocker required as all raw edges are enclosed for a professional finish.
There are no fancy stitching or techniques required at all - in fact, if you can sew a straight line, you can definitely make this skirt!
That said, the more adventurous or experienced sewer can let their imagination run wild and embellish the basic skirt to their heart's content! Suggestions for embellishment are provided on the last two pages of the instructions.
