Basic Skills Necessary:

You'll need to know how to attach interfacing; do basic stitching, basting and understitching; finish seams using whatever method you like; sew buttons and buttonholes; and attach bias binding (although I have full instructions on in the pattern)

Pattern Description:

Mid-rise shorts have waistband, bias binding trim on hem and sides, front pockets, back darts, and button closures on both legs.
The bottom three buttons on both legs are non functioning. 5/8 in (1.6 cm) seam allowances included

I call these the "Movies in the Park" shorts because they'd be great to lounge around in on a warm summer night having a picnic in the park watching a free movie.

What is nice about these shorts is that you can easily adjust the fit at the sides by moving the overlapping leg pieces and stitching down your buttons in the place that feels most comfortable (an idea I got after losing weight and I was annoyed by the idea of having to do major alterations).

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

5 sizes in hip measurements ranging from 38" to 45"

Materials:

7/8 to 1 3/8 yards of light to mid-wieght woven fabrics such as denim, twill, poplin, corduroy, chambray, wools, linens, leather

You Will Also Need:

matching thread, twelve 3/4" buttons, two packages of double-fold bias tape (or make your own 1/2" wide bias binding at home)
