My mother and I made my first sewing project when I was 5: a drawstring purse out of a beautiful butterfly-print cotton. Years later, I'm still sewing, and I love to share my designs with others. My patterns and tutorials use couture techniques I studied in the fashion design program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I lived for 3 years in Paris, and Atelier Joy designs are inspired by the beautiful Parisian lifestyle. All tutorials include feminine details and couture techniques made easy with step-by-step instructions and photos. Use them to sew beautiful pieces that will last a lifetime.

Digital download PDFs to cut and sew a beautiful kimono robe.
***!!***Updated to NOW include misses AND plus size.***!!***
Includes 2 PDFs:
PDF 1) Size and Fabric Yardage Charts, Cutting Dimensions and Layouts. Please note it does not include actual pattern pieces apart from one small curved piece. The kimono is made primarily of rectangles, so you don't need pattern pieces, just rulers and a marking pencil.
PDF 2) Sewing Tutorial with step-by-step instructions and over 40 instructional photos.
I recommend only printing the one pattern piece (US letter size) and viewing the rest of the PDFs on your computer screen. The images are clearer on-screen and you'll help save a tree!
Intermediate sewing skill level suggested.
Includes dimensions and cutting layout for 2 sizes: Misses (fits US sizes 0-14) and Plus (fits US sizes 16-24). Includes option to make long or short version. Includes instructions for 2 different seam finishing techniques: french seams or basic seam finishing techniques. French seams are a couture finishing technique in which you sew each seam twice in order to enclose the seam allowance. This technique works best with thin/lightweight fabrics, such as a silk or light cotton. Basic finishing techniques include pinking, zigzag stitching, or serging,
Please see photos for size chart and fabric yardage requirements.
