Mary Q Shift Cheat sheet
Mary Q Shift Sew a shift straight from the Sixties

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Sew a straight seam, backstitching at beginning and end

Pattern Description:

The Mary Q Shift is inspired by Mary Quant and all things from the 1960s. My mantra is "made in a day" so it's a simple pattern with no darts or zippers to slow you down.
I wanted it to be beginner-sewing friendly, so have made up a photo tutorial on my website www.clotheslinepatterns.com as well as 5 short, 2-3 minute videos of any bits that might look tricky. The only other way I could show you any better how to sew this, is if you came over to my house!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Multi-size pattern in 8 sizes to fit bust 73cm (29") to 108cm (43")

  • 2.2m(2 3/8 yd) of 115cm (45") fabric + same amount lining
  • OR 1.2m (1 3/8yd) of 150cm(60") fabric + same amount lining

You Will Also Need:

  • 1 or 2 (if making your dress reversible) large buttons
