(9) Name: 'Sewing : Girls Flat Front Gathered Skirt

Girls Flat Front Gathered Skirt

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Straight stitching

Pattern Description:

I wanted to make a little girls skirt pattern that looked like a neat zippered skirt from the front but that was also practical & would be wearable as our little girls grew.

As our kids grow so fast, an elastic back waist was the perfect way to achieve this, allowing for a skirt that our little girls can wear longer without complaining that the waist is cutting off their circulation (which I must admit can be very dramatic and very cute at the same time).

This girls skirt features a flat front waistband that looks just like a zipped skirt from the front and an elastic back waistband giving an easy fit, for longer.

There are 3 lengths you can choose from:
1) Mini Skirt that sits mid-thigh
2) Tea Skirt that sits around knee length
3) Midi Skirt that sits below the knee

And then there are 3 options for how much gather you'd like:
1) Lightly Gathered
2) Regular Gather
3) Very Gathered

And finally, there's the optional added extras:
1) Curved Pocket with bound edge
2) Straight Pocket with bound edge
3) Curved Plain Pocket
4) Straight Plain Pocket
5) Ruffle Hem

SIZES: 2-10

TECHNIQUES: Straight stitching, gathering, inserting elastic, binding (optional)

I love seeing both new and experience sewers enjoy sewing and wearing clothes made from my patterns. I also know that not everyone can sew (I can, my sister can't). So, small home-based handmade business selling items on Facebook, ETSY or similar are welcome to sell products made from this pattern, but I do kindly ask that you reference Pattern Emporium somewhere in your product descriptions (for example "This skirt was made using a Pattern Emporium pattern").

Please note that E-book file sharing is illegal and hurts everyone involved. This pattern/tutorial is for single user ONLY. It is not to be reproduced or shared in any way. Additional parties wishing to use this pattern/tutorial must purchase their own.
