Is this pattern only for knit fabrics, or can I use a rayon, or silky type fabrics?
Wow! what a great fitting pattern (even though I didn't properly measure my side seam allowance using my machine's stretch seam...> 3/8", oops)Easy to construct, wonderful drape. I hadn't sewn a garment in years, but just got the itch and made this with great results. I will definitely be making more of these. Would love for MariaDenmark to come up with a cap/short sleeved version of this top.
This pattern is worth every penny. It fits very well around the shoulders and back. Simple and elegant.
I am having some difficulty understanding the construction of the shoulders. Any help would b much appreciated. Thank you
figured it out. sometimes sleep helps!
I am happy you worked it out. Sometimes when sewing I find that just doing as the instructions say with out thinking about it too much helps - then suddenly it makes sense
Hi, I'd love to make this top, but I'm wondering why you would need to use elastic to finish the neckline and sleeves? I'm a beginner to dressmaking, and think I'd find it easier to just hem the edges.
Hi PaulaYou need the invisible elastic (or the fold-over-elastic) because you are working with a knit fabric that stretches. If you just fold over and hem the edges, without drawing them in a bit with the elastic, you'll get gaping armholes and back neckline - the elastic helps keeping the edges to lie flat on your body.Happy Sewing!
