Originally designed to be multipurpose for electronic gizmo management and to hold sewing notions for classes, retreats, RVing, etc., I've had a few of my scrapbooking friends want one. Too bad they don't sew, huh? :)
Besides stitching crafts... it's sized well for use as a mobile "desk drawer" when working/studying at coffee shops, on airplanes (will fit on a tray table nicely), etc. Suitable for travel: cosmetics, jewelry, or art supplies organizer. Student backpacks, too - no more little stuff rolling around in the bottom of the kids' school bags.
Makes a spectacular gift.
Its origins: I *was* the official "pack horse" when my granddaughter and I went to sew together at our local quilt guild's sewing days.
There just wasn't a right-sized bag out there that would hold a couple of the bigger items that I just won't live without - especially the magnetic pin dish & dish of Wonder Clips.
The kiddo even now manages to keep all of her own notions neatly rounded up instead of everything getting spread out and misplaced.
It's a perfect "bug out" bag for sewing and other arts/crafts/travel/workin' stuff.
"The Box" is a handy main feature. (My sewing friends named it that.) When open, you have a large, shallow, four-sided front piece that will securely hold frequently used items that stay conveniently within reach and are easy to see to grab. Small items won't scoot off the table.
Purposefully designed compartments to store specific things safely & securely.
Zipper ends are secured within the seams for a durable, clean, finished look.
Opens quickly to expose everything you need. No digging for things. You're going to love "The Box" . :)
Optional fabric "dish" or other "Futz Factor" items personalize your bag.
Want to sell your bags? Sure! If you personally build these, feel free to sell them or give them away. After all, your awesome finished bag is existing on our planet because of *you* and it's yours, isn't it? The only thing I ask: if you are going to sell these online or in boutiques, etc - please give me a plug on the tag or in your description that includes "www.bionicgearbag.com" and "(c) Sally Thompson 2014" as the source of the design. Be sure and put your name on it, too... it's nice to be able to thank you later when I hear from your happy buyers. :)
Invitations to link to your blog and Etsy shop, etc, are welcomed. Likewise, if you'd like to teach this project, please get in touch with me and I'll give you a special rate on patterns for your class so you can make a buck, too. :)
No commercial mass production of the finished product is allowed. No copying, sharing or redistribution of this pattern is permitted without written permission
Learned to knit & sew when I was 7 or 8 from my uber-spectacular creative Mom. The greatest joy now is watching my 8 year old granddaughter enjoy artsy/fartsy & sewing crafts.
