Pattern Description:

This fully lined suitcase is made of sturdy canvas and designed with rigid sides that maintain shape in use. Finished, it measures 16 inches wide, 12 inches tall, and 5 inches deep. Just the right size for a pint-sized superhero trip to grandma's, or for Wonderwoman's night away.

This pattern is designed for an adventurous, experienced sewist. Someone who has sewn a few tote bags and purses, but is bored with the same ol' same old. This project uses zippers, curved seams, piping, and loads of layers. Not to worry though, there are 16 pages of directions and color photos to guide you along the way.

2/3 yds Heavyweight canvas/"Duck Cloth" (60" wide)
1 1/2 yds quilting cotton (accent for lining) (44" wide)
1 1/2 yds Heavy Duty Sew-in Stabilizer "PelTex #70" (20" wide)
1 1/4 yrds Woven iron-on interfacing "SF-101 Shape-Flex" (20" wide)

You Will Also Need:

Two 22" zippers (to match accent fabric)
Thread to match canvas and accent fabrics
Medium and Heavyweight sewing machine needles
17" of 1/2" wide elastic
Wondertape, Glue stick, Temporary Marking Pen
Tapestry Needle & Scrap Yarn
The Usual Sewing Implements (Pins, scissors, hand sewing needle, sewing machine, etc)
Zipper Foot & Piping Foot
3 yds 5/32" cording (or pre-made piping)
2 Pieces of Plastic Canvas Mesh (12"x18")

LOVE my Sidekick May 3, 2012

A FUN project! Well-written, lots of pics, be prepared to do a few contortions!!! Not recommended for beginner sewists. I will be making more of these! :0)
