This 11 page PDF pattern shows how to make you very own Dish Towel Tote using 2 coordinating dish cloths (or tea towels as we call them here in the UK) with step-by-step instructions and lots of close up photographs to help you complete your project.

The sewing pattern is classed as 'beginners' suitable for anyone who has experience of using a sewing machine & following very simple sewing patterns.

Instructions are given in both centimetres and inches to suit both US and European buyers.

This tote is the perfect size for your everyday essentials; mobile, sunglasses, magazine, book and lunch! Use it every day for shopping, lunch in the park or days on the beach.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • the bag ends up approximately the size of a dish towel folded in half!


  • Two dish towels (tea towels as we call then in the UK!)
  • Some cotton webbing for handles (1.3m)

You Will Also Need:

  • basic sewing equipment, sewing machine, pins, scissors and iron

Excellent Dish Towel Tote  January 10, 2013

This project was so easy to make I made 2 in a very short time. The instructions were very easy to follow.

Excellent Easy-peasy, but watch the handles  March 25, 2012

I banged out two of these bags yesterday afternoon--my third time making the pattern. First time I did the handles wrong, so that makes carrying the bag over my shoulder not really possible. Never mind--I still use that bag. This time I got it right.
