Pattern Description:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE messenger style bags. They're so versatile and can be made for everyone--a new mom as a diaper bag, a boy or girl as a book bag, a Mister or Misses as an everyday, laptop, or overnight bag. It can be patchwork pretty, a rugged denim, a subdued canvas, or whatever suits your personality.

I've been making this bag since 2004 in many combos and sizes. But now, I want to bring the fun to you!

This pattern features the following:
A pocket under the flap for quick access for cell phones, ipods, and the like. An interior pocket to stow away goodies--add a zipper to keep it shut or throw that zipper to the curb and live on the edge. A large back pocket with a magnetic snap is ideal for holding magazines, files, or daily planners. The adjustable strap allows you to carry it hands free or adjust it to be a shoulder bag.

The finished bag will measure appx. 11"w x 11.5"h x 2.5"d. However, once you have the basics down, you can manipulate the pattern to be any size you'd like with any combination of features you want.

Pattern is 24 pages long. It includes 8 pattern pieces on 11 pages (tiled to print on standard 8.5x11 size paper) and detailed instructions using both photographs and illustrations.

Hey! Do you want to make these to sell? Well, go right ahead. All you have to do is purchase the pattern and you're set. I don't require anything else. A shout out would be nice, but it's not necessary :)

Good Messenger Bag  March 29, 2013

I found this pattern to be fairly straight forward and easy to follow. There is no pattern piece for the flap, but it was easy to figure out. I plan to use an upholstery weight fabric for the exterior and a strong twill for the lining and skip all that interfacing. I think I will enjoy this bag. It's very useable.

Good messenger bag  December 30, 2012

Directions for cutting out flap need to be more obvious. I expected a pattern piece for this and was not expecting to have to cut without pattern. Had to read between lines to figure out seam width. Overall this is a good pattern and i will make more bags.

Good messenger bag  November 29, 2012

The pattern was great and the instructions were good. The only problem I had was trying to find the measurements for the flap. I looked all over, but it was on the pattern by the pocket flap. It took me a while to find it. I love how it was so easy to make it you own.
