Pattern Description:

I had a customer request for a very specific travel bag. She paid $395 for her current bag, but she wanted to see my version. I don't copy other peoples designs, so I set out only with her needs in mind for carrying her notebook computer, having a trolley sleeve to carry the tote through the airport, and approximating the total capacity of her current bag.
The result is the departure satchel.

I tested it myself and can honestly say this is a bag you will love for travel.

It will also work fantastically as a diaper bag. Great capacity and pockets.

For those of you who carry huge purses, here is your new favorite.

Things you will learn in this pattern:
+A pocket I just made up and have never taught before that you will want to add to cargo shorts and simple totes - I call it the origami pop-up pocket.

+How to add a secret pocket - so awesome for traveling.

+The pouch front pocket is also a new one for this bag.

I have been listening to you and know you have been wanting travel bags with interior pockets. This bag is it. I will be doing a duffle sized version of it as well. That one has some new pocket designs that I think you will love too.

There is no quilting for this bag, just get right to it.

If your fabrics are washable and preshrunk, this bag is washable too.

It's my new favorite bag! I hope it is yours too.

Excellent Gym bag  August 10, 2013

I made this to use as a gym bag for me.
I have made both the boutique and traveller duffles. I was interested in this pattern because of the different construction method by not using a quilted piece.
The pattern is superb. It is a little tricky and good for someone with a little sewing experience. I had to practice the zips and was really happy with the way they are done. The construction method is logical and applying the lining is genius. I had an "ah ha" moment in the ...

Like so many sewists I know, I have been sewing since the age of 6. I started at my mother's feet, fashioning her scraps into doll clothes. By age 16, I was spending Summers sewing my wardrobe for the coming school year. I was known as a creative dresser. I wrote my first sewing pattern in 2006 as part of applying for a patent.
Now I have thousands of satisfied sewing pattern customers and am ...
