On a recent trip I realized I needed a day pack to carry a few things on our hiking and horseback adventures. Then my kids needed them too for their soccer practices. Since I never carry anything made by someone else, I had to figure out how to make this ubiquitous drawstring back pack. We've been testing them out for a while now and we love them!
Teenagers are so hard to satisfy, but I can honestly say all of my teen models love their bags. This is my new go-to pattern for quick gifts. It takes about 2 hours to make and everyone needs one.
For your convenience, I sell the auto upholstery welting in my Etsy shop. If you have an upholstery supplier near you, you may be able to source it locally. As with most of my patterns, this one includes source notes, so you can use the same supplies that I do.

Like so many sewists I know, I have been sewing since the age of 6. I started at my mother's feet, fashioning her scraps into doll clothes. By age 16, I was spending Summers sewing my wardrobe for the coming school year. I was known as a creative dresser. I wrote my first sewing pattern in 2006 as part of applying for a patent.
Now I have thousands of satisfied sewing pattern customers and am very happy to be part of the bourgeoning online sewing community.
