Basic Skills Necessary:

  • You just need to know how to use your sewing machine. Each step is explained

Pattern Description:

A recent customer requested a slightly smaller duffle than my usual one. She wanted to use it as a carry-on, and she specified the need for a trolley sleeve to have the bag sit on her rolling luggage. I made it for her and liked it so much, I wrote the pattern so you can make it too.

Roll, hands free through the airport with your duffle atop your rolling luggage, secured by the trolley sleeve.

Some of the things I changed about this duffle have to do with other customer requests over the years. The most frequent request is a strap material other than the jute webbing. This duffle is small enough that I could use a skinnier strap than the big duffle. That means you will have a rainbow of choices for the 2" strap webbing. The link for where to buy it is in the pattern.

This duffle will be machine washable, you will love that.

Thinner batting, coupled with the smaller size, make it super easy to sew. If you have made my original duffles, you are going to love how easy it is to make this bag.

As I was making this one, I found an easier way to attach the straps, so you will get the benefit of that.

The magazine pocket on the end is a fun addition.

I think I have explained the pleated, zippered pocket better in this pattern. I use more photos and illustrations in this pattern than in the original.

Although it is a few inches smaller than the original duffle, it is still a roomy bag and will make swoon worthy gifts for anyone on your list.
