Passionate quilter, recently crazy about paper piecing.
Block designed for Big City Girl QAL (2013). See the above link for details.
Hi, I wanted to let you know that I used your Warsaw Mermaid pattern for a beach themed mini quilt swap on Instagram. It was chosen as one of the quilts from the swap to be shown in a gallery in the November issue of Make Modern Magazine as well. I have posted it here as a finished project called Beach Bound Mermaid. Thank you for such a great pattern!
Is there a trick to seeing the face pieces together so that they align? I sewed the individual pieces according to the pattern (and on the lines) but they don't seem to align correctly. The face bit to the left (as you face the pattern) is longer than the part to the right...
If the individual pieces were sewn correctly, the face pieces should go together correctly too. When something is wrong, there's a trick to make it right, but it"s hard to explain it, it must be shown on photos or video (I'll try to show it when I"m back from summer break).
This is such a fun pattern!! It definitely takes concentration and patience, but it has been a blast to sew. It was easy to color in the colors as needed, or reference the images. I started sewing pieces, and didn't realize I was utilizing BOTH sizes at the same time. OOPS. After that it's been fairly easy. Thanks for a fun, and beautiful pattern!!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for piecing little mermaid!
Ladies, I use free software to create my free patterns (I don't have any other software) and there's no possibility to include color coding on the templates:(
I agree with JFox that color coding would be helpful. I would also like a picture of the finished block with the pieces labeled as the pattern pieces are.
Having a color coding would greatly help in making this piece. Not sure I'm going to give this one a try.
