Star Crossed Quilt Block

from Squawk Shop
(7) Name: 'Quilting : Star Crossed Quilt Block
Star Crossed Quilt Block Block 1
Star Crossed Quilt Block EQ5 block
Star Crossed Quilt Block Block 2

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • 1/4" seam allowance
  • pressing with iron

Pattern Description:

A simple block made with Half Square Triangles and Squares. I redrafted this Star Crossed block to be larger for the purposes of a Charity Quilt. This tutorial makes a 12.5" finished block.

Using this block all over a quilt makes a fun, interesting, and easy quilt. If going for a more polished look, use the same background across all blocks.

*Original block tutorial for Star Crossed, 10" finished block can be found at Don't Call Me Betsy. I checked with Elizabeth to re-size the block on June 21, 2013.

To make a 12" finished block, cut the squares and HSTs to 2.9" instead of 3".

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 12.5" finished block

  • rotary cutter and mat
  • sewing machine
  • thread
  • fabric Fat Eighth Friendly, at least 3 different fabrcs
