The inspiration for Siena Square was a lovely hand-painted design in a 15th century manuscript exhibited in the splendid Siena Cathedral in Italy. When I discovered it while on holiday, I immediately saw it would make an amazing quilt block, full of possibilities for color placement and graphic effects!
The Siena Square paper pieced quilt block pattern consists of easy instructions and clearly annotated foundation pattern units to make both 6" (15.25 cm) and 12" (30.5cm) blocks. Use the handy percentages chart to enlarge or reduce the pattern to a range of other sizes.
The included coloring page lets you easily experiment with color schemes and variations before cutting into your fabric stash.
