Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Outside bag fabric - 1 yard
  • Lining fabric - 1 yard
  • Fusible Fleece or light weight fusible interfacing - 2 yards
  • Top Outside Pocket - 2/3 yards or 1 yard if directional
  • Bottom Outside Pocket - 2/3 yards or 1 yard if directional
  • Handles - 1 yard
  • Inside Pockets - 1 yard (use scraps if you desire

Pattern Description:

Ready, set. go. With this mat bag for your 18" x 24" rotary cutting mat, your rulers, and other favorite gadgets, you are set for your next quilting retreat or class. You design the pockets for the rulers you have. (Or ones still on your wish list.) Novelty fabrics are great for this project as well as other coordinating fabrics.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 20" x 27"

Materials:

  • A Walking Foot is recommended for this project.

Good mat and ruler bag.  June 23, 2013


This bag is cleverly made - you can adapt the interior pockets to what you actually use. The way the outside pockets hold a 6 X 24" ruler is awesome. I have made several bags - all smaller than this one - so in some cases used what I had done with those bags - like add a pleat to make a pocket a bit fuller.

For the most part this pattern was clear and easy to follow. I don't think it says to cut the fusible batting for the outside pockets. It says to put the batting on the ...
