Skill Level:

medium skill level requirement Intermediate

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • 1/4 inch seam
  • paper piecing basics if you want to do that option

Pattern Description:

I created this block as part of a Quilt-Along. It looks like my own house (except for the fact that my house doesn't exactly sit right on the bay!) I think it's a lot of fun to make and would make a great little wall hanging on it's own, or use it in a larger quilt.

The house block can be pieced in the traditional manner, or you can use the paper piecing templates provided (no additional instructions for paper piecing).

Enjoy making your House By the Bay block! I'd love to see a picture of your finished block.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 12 1/2 inch unfinished

Materials:

  • scrap for the roof, windows, door, hill, and water
  • fat quarter or less for house
  • fat quarter or less for sky

You Will Also Need:

  • thread, sewing machine
  • Paper piecing supplies if you want to use that method
