Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Rotary cutting

Pattern Description:

Each block in this set features a light-colored strip so that you can have friends sign the blocks like an autograph album--but signing is not mandatory--the blocks can stand on their own. Use the designs to create a keepsake quilt for yourself or for a special friend. Commemorate a birthday, a special occasion, or simply friendship.

There are two other sets of blocks to collect for a total of 12 friendship blocks to make a sampler-style quilt.

Simple rotary cutting and machine piecing techniques make it easy to create the blocks for your sampler. This pattern includes fully illustrated directions for each of the 4 blocks in the set, including full-size templates for the required paoer-piecing foundations for the two blocks that require them.

Friendly Flyer has four foundations; Friends and Neighbors has a template for the signature strip; Memorable Star and Sailing Buddy are easy and require no templates.

These blocks are perfect for a block-of-the-month project, too. Organize your friends and get stitching!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Each block finishes to 8" square (8-1/2" including seam allowances all around)

  • Fabric: see pattern
  • Rotary cutting tools
  • Paper for foundations
