Skill Level:

little skill level requirement Novice

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • You should already know how to use a sewing machine and some of the fancier stitches. Preferable, you would also have knowledge of fusible applique and cutting out fabrics using rotary cutting tools. If not, you can still learn by referring to quilting books that teach these methods.
  • From the different applique techniques, I like this one the best; and it is the easiest to do.

Pattern Description:

Quilts add color to any space they occupy. Sometimes, they are meant to just add color and warmth to a particular place in our homes. At other times, they are a warm, cozy covering as we sleep.

So, I thought why not add a splash of color to our computer station. I like the idea of giving this mechanical mouse a cozy quilt to sit on as we do our work. There we can enjoy this mini quilt as we dream up new ideas or find more projects to add to our quilting list.

This design will be as delightful to make, as it will be to give to someone you love or keep for yourself; allowing it to reflect your affections. Whether you think of long stemmed roses, or those cheery wild roses growing out in nature; they all have a cheery disposition.

Several years ago I came up with this idea, and since Craftsy has such a great place for us to share our patterns, I am offering them now as PDF patterns.

This PDF pattern has colored illustrations, clear instructions, and full-size templates for the applique pieces that have already been reversed for the fusible applique process. Use my fabric choices as your guide and have fun with this project.

Darlee on craftsy.com

Sewing began my 'adventure with fabric' in seventh grade.
Fast forward about three decades, and it was machine applique that won my attention. Presently, I like to blend applique with scrap quilting techniques; and share my e-patterns here. I do still love new fabrics; however, am on a quest to turn my fabric stash into scrappy quilts. Visit me at my website or blog to find out more.
