A little white kitten is so excited to play with a pink ball of yarn! Her fur is standing up and her expression is focused. Such a fun picture for a mini quilt!
This quilt is a whole cloth quilt, which means that you cut the front, back and batting all the same size as the finished quilt. The applique kitten is sewn with the fabric edges raw, exposed. It is designed to fray to the stitches, giving a textured, folk look to the quilt. The yarn is created with a simple reverse applique technique.
The applique and the quilting are done at the same time. There is no binding; the edges are finished by sewing all around and then clipping the edges to fray.
Every step in this quilt was planned to create the most beautiful quilt possible in the most efficient way possible.
I love designing and making quilts, especially folk and story quilts. All my patterns are easy to follow with step by step directions and photos. Every pattern begins with a quilt created and sewn on my table top machine.
I have a blog where I share the design process behind the patterns, MarylandQuilter.com. Come by and visit!
