Make a set of mug rugs using the ancient Yin/Yang motif, changed up with hearts in place of the more traditional black and white circles. Use fusible web to apply the applique shapes to the background pieces and then quilt and bind. A set is really quick to make, and sure to be appreciated by anyone who understands that life is made up of both light and dark. A set makes a great gift for your favorite yoga instructor, or for yourself, as a reminder that with the light comes the dark and vice versa... and learning to accept and understand the lessons that come with each one can bring peace to your soul.

I am a published sewing and quilting author with several books and many magazine articles to my credit. My most recent book, How to Make a Quilt was published in August 2014 by Storey Publishing. I've written two other successful books for them-- The Quilting Answer Book and The Sewing Answer Book. I learned to sew from my grandmothers, great grandmother, and my Mom when I was barely in grade school and I've been sewing ever since. I added quilting to my repertoire in the 1980s and worked for a major quilt book publisher as Managing Editor and then Editor-in-Chief for 5 years. Now I have my own business, designing quilts and tote bags and anything else that strikes my fancy.Go to www.joyofsewingandquilting.blogspot.com to see my projects and whatever else I'm up to. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find something you'd like to make in my Craftsy store!
