Pattern Description:

This pattern makes a generous lap or nap sized quilt or large wall hanging. It includes the pigtails and skirt that you can use to make a cowgirl instead of a cowboy! It is an easy pattern and a tutorial for the applique is available on my blog. The pattern is written for the cowboy quilt shown in the first photo. It can easily be changed as in the pink version with an embroidered Bible verse, but instructions are not given for that change.
This pattern was the first pattern I offered for sale several years ago. I was inspired by raising three sons who as toddlers loved to try on their daddy's shoes. Growing up in Texas, boots were a common sight and most little Texan boys at one time or another can be found in oversized boots!
This pattern can also be made using alternate applique methods, including machine applique.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished quilt approximately 59 1/2" x 51 1/2"


  • sewing machine, fabric ( center panel -2/3 yd., borders - red (1/4 yd.), blue (1/2yd.),novelty print (1/2 yd.), beige (3/4 yd.), scraps or fat quarters for figure in flesh, gold, blue, beige, brown, reddish brown, red banana print
  • batting and backing (about 3 yds. unless 60" wide,, If 60" wide, you will need about 1 1/2 yd.)

You Will Also Need:

  • embroidery floss in dk. flesh, black, dk. brown, needle, freezer paper, and glue stick
