That Owl Quilt

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • You should already know how to use a rotary cutter etc and it would be helpful to know the basics of fusible applique

Pattern Description:

These friendly little owls look great in deliciously bright colours on a shaded fabric background, but would look equally delicious in other colourways. This would look fantastic on a wall, or as a quilt.
This is a fused applique quilt, some of the pieces are quite small but manageable

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Approx. 32" x 40"


  • Main background cotton fabric - 1 yard (90cm)
  • Rainbow fabric for flange - 1/4 yard (20cm)
  • Binding - 3/8 yard (30cm)
  • Assorted small pieces of fabric for applique - branch, leaves, mouse, owls etc

You Will Also Need:

  • Paper-backed fusible web 36" wide - 1/2 yard (50cm)
  • Batting - approx. 36" x 44"
  • Backing - approx. 36" x 44"
  • General sewing supplies
  • Permanent marking pen - optional. This could be used to mark the black eye dots.
  • Stranded embroidery cotton for the hammock strings.
