Basic Skills Necessary:

  • simple sewing and quilting, applique,simple embroidery

Pattern Description:

This has been a very popular pattern! The cookies look good enough to eat with the "sugar" and "sprinkles" on them and there is a real sugar cookie recipe embroidered around the border!! What fun for a kitchen or bakery! Several people have made them to put up at Christmas or to give grandchildren who love to help in the kitchen!
You can find a tutorial for the applique method I prefer on my blog, Buzzing and Bumbling, but any method, including machine applique, will work for this quilt.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished quilt approximately 51" x 40"


  • Fabric: cream - 2/3 yd., medium tan - 1/4 yd., medium gold - fat quarter, dark tan - fat quarter, black/white checkerboard wtih 1/4" checks - 1/3 yd., purple for border and apron - 1/2 yd., cream with white for outer border - 2/3 yd., fat quarters or large scraps - white, brown for cat, pink for blouse, dk. bronw for geingerbread men, brown for hair, light tan for star cookies and spoon, blue for jeans, striped multi-color for stockings,
  • backing fabric - 1 1/2 yds. at least 42" wide
  • batting
  • embroidery floss in black, light blue, dk. flesh, dark brown, white
  • low loft polyester batting to put under cookies

You Will Also Need:

  • multi-color seed beads for sprinkles on cookies
  • silvered seed beads for sugar on star cookies
