Let's travel far outto outer space! There is a friendly spaceman waving hello, floating in the atmosphere surrounded by a comet, a lightning bolt and other celestial objects.
Quilt as you go techniques make this retro quilt fast and simple. Outer Space baby quilt is a wholecloth quilt, which means that you cut the front, back and batting all the same size as the finished quilt.
The applique anchors are sewn with the fabric edges raw, exposed, no fusing necessary. It is designed to fray to the stitches, giving a textured, unaffected look to the quilt. The applique and the quilting are done at the same time. There is no binding; the edges are finished by sewing all around and then clipping the edges to fray. The patterns are full size, cut on the lines and tape together if needed.
Every step in this quilt was planned to create the most beautiful quilt possible in the most efficient way possible.
I love designing and making quilts, especially folk and story quilts. All my patterns are easy to follow with step by step directions and photos. Every pattern begins with a quilt created and sewn on my table top machine.
I have a blog where I share the design process behind the patterns, MarylandQuilter.com. Come by and visit!
