Rebecca and Jake Mini Quilt

Pattern Description:

It's a beautiful spring morning and Rebecca and her dog, Jake, are out for a bicycle ride. The sun is shining and thoughts of love are in the air.
This mini quilt is a whole cloth quilt, which means that you cut the front, back and batting all the same size as the finished quilt. The appliques are sewn with the fabric edges raw, exposed. It is designed to fray to the stitches, giving a textured, folk look to the quilt.
The applique and the quilting are done at the same time. There is no binding; the edges are finished by sewing all around and then clipping the edges to fray.

Every step in this quilt was planned to create the most beautiful quilt possible in the most efficient way possible.

This pattern includes complete easy to follow numbered step by step directions with photos. There are full size printable patterns for each of the appliques. The pattern is written with metric units in parenthesis

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 18x 21 inches (45x53cm)

  • 2 fat quarters (18x21 inches or 45x53 cm) cotton fabric for the front and back
  • 1 fat quarter (18x21 inches or 45x53 cm) cotton flannel fabric for the middle layer (This fabric will show at the clipped edges of the quilt)
  • Small pieces of fabric in pinks for the hearts and bicycle, brown, beige for the skin, white for the wheels, yellow print for the skirt, yellow for Rebecca's shirt, orange for backpack and details.
  • Fine tip archival permanent markers in red, blue and black. I use Micron 005. These are for the details of Rebecca's face and Jake. (Optional- you could use thread instead)
