Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Sew a straight line
  • Set up your machine for free-motion (or straight line) quilting

Pattern Description:

This is a pattern I designed for my free-motion quilting classes that I teach in Portland, Oregon. As you may know, the thing that will make you better at free-motion quilting is Practice, Practice, Practice! This pattern allows you a couple of hours of free-motion quilting practice and at the end you can cut it up and have useful buckets made from your practice.

My students have really enjoyed the class and tell me they get lots of use out of their buckets! If you can't take a class from me, the next best thing would be to check out my book, First Steps to Free-Motion Quilting to learn the basics and some designs, and then get yourself stitching on this pattern!

If you like the look of the buckets but don't want to free motion quilt you can use straight line quilting instead.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • The large bucket is 6 3/4" wide, 6 3/4" deep and 5 1/2" tall
