It's a busy life if you're a pond dweller. There's water to swim in for a duck, dragonflies to chase if you're a frog, trees to fell for a beaver, and a meadow to roam in for a turtle. The Pond Life Quilt tells the story of all these animals in a relaxed, folk style.
The applique and the quilting are done at the same time. The appliques are sewn with raw edges. These are designed to fray to the sewn edges and give a cozy feel to the quilt. There are no time consuming satin stitches or messy glue paper.
The binding is a shortcut method where the edges are sewn all around and then clipped to fringe.
Every step in this quilt was planned to create the most beautiful quilt possible in the most efficient way possible. There are numbered steps and photographs to guide you. The pattern pieces are full size designed to be printed from standard computer paper.
I love designing and making quilts, especially folk and story quilts. All my patterns are easy to follow with step by step directions and photos. Every pattern begins with a quilt created and sewn on my table top machine.
I have a blog where I share the design process behind the patterns, MarylandQuilter.com. Come by and visit!
