Pinwheel Spinning Around
finished size 70" x 70"
Designed by Heather Jones
Pinwheel Spinning Around is my modern twist on the traditional pinwheel quilt pattern. The large scale of the pinwheels in this pattern is the perfect way to showcase some of your favorite fabrics. The combination of beautiful prints with lots of negative space creates an elegant, modern design that is suitable for both beginner and advanced quilters alike.
Materials:
(fabrics are 42" wide)
White Fabric: 4 1/2 yards
1/3 yard each of 10 fabrics
-or, you can use fat quarters if you'd prefer
Binding fabric: 3/4 yard
Backing fabric: 4 3/8 yards
Batting: 72" x 72" piece, or a Twin-size package
In my version of Pinwheel Spinning Around I used fabric from the Crazy Love collection by Jennifer Paganelli for Free Spirit Fabric and Designer Soild from Free Spirit Fabric.

Heather Jones is a designer, seamstress, and modern quilter. She lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband, Jeff, and two young children, Aidan and Olivia, who are her biggest supporters as well as her greatest sources of inspiration. Heather is the founder and current president of the Cincinnati Modern Quilt Guild and is working on her first line of applique, sewing, and quilting patterns. She is often inspired by everyday places and things that many people wouldn't even notice, and is always excited by the challenge to translate that inspiration into her work. Three of her original quilts were chosen as winners of the Modern Quilt Guild's Project Modern Challenges, a year-long national quilting competition. Heather has great respect for the art of quilt making and loves to bring a modern twist to traditional patterns.
