Skill Level:

medium skill level requirement Intermediate

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Sew an accurate quarter inch seam
  • Baste, quilt and bind a finished top

Pattern Description:

This pattern was inspired by an antique pinwheel top, and I love the way the modern fabrics update the vintage design!

The pattern is easy enough for an "advanced" beginner. This tutorial-style pattern contains step by step instructions with full color photographs. You will learn some techniques for making accurate quarter square triangle blocks!

The pattern is fat-quarter friendly, but you can also use fat eighths or scraps for even more variety.

Four size options are included (baby, lap, twin coverlet or full).

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Baby (45 x 56 inches)
  • Lap (58 x 69 inches)
  • Twin coverlet (69 x 80 inches)
  • Full (82 x 93 inches)

  • Baby: 4 fat quarters, 1/2 yard background, 1 1/4 yards sashing, 7/8 yard border, 2 2/3 yards backing
  • Lap: 7 fat quarters, 3/4 yard background, 1 1/2 yards sashing, 1 1/8 yards border, 3 1/2 yards backing
  • Twin coverlet: 10 fat quarters, 7/8 yard background, 2 yards sashing, 1 1/3 yards border, 4 1/8 yards backing
  • Full: 15 fat quarters, 1 yard background, 3 yards sashing, 1 3/4 yards border, 7 1/8 yards backing

I love to quilt! I used to crochet a lot, but once I discovered quilting, it took over as an obsession! I also sell additional patterns and finished quilts on Etsy.
