Baby Quilt, Crib Quilt, Lap Quilt. Child Quilt.
A great gift idea for the next grand baby.

The center panel is about 36" x 36" and makes a big bold design using the super-simple freezer paper applique technique which makes this applique so easy even a child can help with the work.

A nice size baby or child size quilt. ,The finished size is about 40" x 52",a good size for a throw while reading to your child on the couch yet big enough to cover him when he falls asleep. If the size does not suit your needs, the design lends itself well to customizing to the size needed.

An optional idea for additional embellishment would be to stitch the child's name or a fun short quote in the center of one of the strips below the center panel.


Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Approximately 40" x 52"


  • 1 yard (44-45") yellow/white cottonfor background & strip at bottom o
  • 1 yard main cat color
  • 1/4 yard coordinating cat color
  • Blue scraps for mice
  • scrap for neckties for cat & mice
  • Scraps for facial features: black for pupils & nose, white for eyes.
  • Blue Strips: 2 strips cut 2.5" x 36"
  • Orange Strips: 3 strips cut 2.5" x 36"
  • Black Flange: 2 strips cut 1.5" x 36"
  • Black Border: 5 strips cut the width of the fabric x 2.5"
  • Backing & Binding: 2 yards
  • Embroidery floss for facial features: black or brown
  • Freezer paper for applique
  • Glue stick & quilt basting spray
  • Batting of choice

  • Basic sewing notions, iron, and tape
