Basic Skills Necessary:

  • cut fabric
  • sew even 1/4" seams
  • hand or machine quilt
  • piece blocks

Pattern Description:

For this quilt, I wanted a design that would showcase a crazy Squirrel print from Tula Pink. I knew I wanted to build the design around fussy cut blocks.

Nutty Bars is easy and quick for even newer quilters. You can lay it out two ways; random, as shown, or in a more predictable pattern.

MATERIALS:
Gigantic Queen / King (90" x 113"):
4 yards grey solid
13 Fat Quarters
2 yards feature print (more if fussy cutting)
7 1/2 yards backing (42" wide) OR 5 1/2 yards (60" wide)
96" x 116" batting
3/4 yards binding

Standard Twin (68" x 90"):
3 yards grey solid
8 Fat Quarters
1 1/2 yards feature print (more if fussy cutting)
5 yards backing (if using 42" wide) OR 4 yards backing if using 60" wide)
74" x 96" batting
5/8 yard binding
