Pattern Description:
This is a fun, summery pattern featuring easy applique birds, clouds, and kites. This pattern introduces a great new applique technique, and includes fun dimensional elements.
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- Finished size: 54" x 66"
Materials:
- 3 yards pale blue background fabric
- 1/4 yard inner border (black fabric with small white polka dot)
- 6-8 batik primary colored fat quarters for kites and bows
- 1-1/2 yards white fabric for kites strings and clouds
- 8" square of blue fabric for soaring bird
- 6" square of each color -red, yellow, blue for border birds
- 1/2 yard binding
- 3-1/2 yards backing & batting
- scraps of batting for bows
You Will Also Need:
- Superior Thread Charlotte's Web fusible thread
- Superior Thread Monopoly (Only 1 color needed)
- 3/8" pressing bar
- 4 baby black buttons (for birds eyes)
- 23-24 buttons for the bows

Hi! I'm Christine.
My family and I started Amelie Scott Designs back in 2008. It was just the perfect business for our family. I love to sew and quilt and create, and so does my daughter. My husband, Mark, has degrees in English, and used to be an editor. (Yes, I sleep with the editor to get myself published, but it has worked well for 25 years so why not.) Back in 2008 my son was taking a web design class in high school, so he was put in charge of our website. Being a teenage boy, he was not keen on a "sewing business," and would tell his friends and teachers that we "sell 'stuff' out of our basement." Later though, he took over creating all the wonderful diagrams we have in our patterns. He is now studying to be an accountant, and is slowing taking over the books. I also work and teach part time in at Quilt Beginnings, in Dublin, Ohio.
People often ask us how we got our company name. My daughter's middle name is Amelie (named after my favorite ancestor and pronounced (uh may lee), and my middle name is Scott.
