(7) Name: 'Quilting : Layers of Lavender
Layers of Lavender Layers of Lavender

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic Rotary Cutting Skills
  • Basic Machine Piecing Skills

Pattern Description:

Shades of lavender and blue create the cool feeling of a quiet garden in this fresh new approach to Cathedral Windows. The scalloped edges of the layered window frames create the illusion of chains peeking through from the background. The dark chains appear when the folded bias
edges of the window frames are rolled back and stitched during the quilting process. Constructed and quilted entirely by machine, this quilt would make a beautiful addition to your collection.

Layers of Lavender uses the Machine Stitched Cathedral Window technique developed in 1998 by Shelley. Based on the Bow Tie block the technique used 3D piecing and machine quilting. It is a total departure from the traditional method of constructing Cathedral Windows.
