Pattern Description:
This wall hanging depicts the song "Jesus loves the little children...". It depicts children of all races. The bright ribbons along the border echo the colors of the central panel. This fairly large wall hanging has been popular among churches and Christian Day Care centers. It is equally special in a child's bedroom or used as a lap or crib quilt. A tutorial for the easy applique method is found on my blog, Buzzing and Bumbling, but any applique method can be used.
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- approximately 41" x 41"
Materials:
- Fabric: gray center panel - 1 yd., black/white 1/4" check border - 1/3 yd., white border 1/2 yd., black/white print border 1/3 yd., black/white dot border 1/3yd., backing 1 1/4 yd. if at least 43" wide, scraps in a variety of colors for applique, Ribbons - scraps each 3" long, unwired, in colors used for central figures about 1 yd. total
- embroidery floss in black, brown, green, dark flesh, dark yellow, dark blue, dark orange, and white
- batting
You Will Also Need:
- freezer paper, glue stick, acrylic paint (optional) for painting whites of eyes, irises, and pupils
