(Paper foundation pieced)
I wanted to give my daughter something small but special for Valentine's Day so I designed this little mug rug to use scraps of black, white, gray, and pink fabrics which were abundant in my stash.
It's such a simple project that I quickly made two more mug rugs to give to a couple of very dear friends. I love the rays of color spreading out from the heart and setting it aglow! This would be fun in any color combination for any occasion or for no occasion at all. Hearts are always wonderful.
I think I'm on a mug rug roll - such a fabulous way to use those bits and pieces that are too small to use in a quilt,, yet too large to throw away.
The paper foundation piecing pattern and the heart template are actual size. Set your printer at 100% so that it will add no additional margins to the printout. Margins would shrink the size of the patterns.

Since retiring from my teaching career I've discovered that there is life outside of the classroom! I spend parts of most of my days indulging in my favorite hobbies of quilting and sewing. I started designing patterns as an experiment, and no one was more surprised than I was to find that other people liked my little designs. I try to write my patterns in such a way that beginning quilters can follow them. I include lots of details, photos, and little informative notes, so even if they look complicated, the instructions should be easy to follow.
