Hawaiian Dream

from Quilts by Wing Designs
(7) Name: 'Quilting : Hawaiian Dream
Hawaiian Dream
Hawaiian Dream
Hawaiian Dream
Hawaiian Dream
Hawaiian Dream Theresa's with DARK background

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Sewing accurate 1/4" seams
  • Rotary cutting skills

Pattern Description:

WOW -- What a difference your background fabric can make!! You can have two totally different looking quilts from just one pattern.

HAWAIIAN DREAM looks difficult, but it's the SASHING that does all the work!! Start with a simple block, add a unique sashing and what a different look you create!! Choose a LIGHT background and you see large stars emerging. However, choose a DARK background, the stars recede and you have a very geometric look going on - TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LOOKING QUILTS. Then we add the bonus of a pieced inner border which adds that extra WOW factor, too.

Designed with beginners in mind, but unique enough for advanced quilters.

This pattern started out as a Mystery Quilt, so you will find the step-by-step instructions VERY EASY to follow and understand with LOTS OF DIAGRAMS.

In the cutting out process, we have you putting your parts into marked clear plastic bags, which greatly helps with keeping things organized. So whether you get the quilt finished this week or next month (or for some of us, perhaps next year), you will always be able to find your parts and pieces and get right back into the fun of completing this quilt top.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Throw: 76" x 76"
  • Queen: 92" x 108" (extra borders)
  • King: 106" x 106" (same look as throw, just more blocks)

  • This pattern uses 3 fabrics: a focus fabric/medium; a background fabric/light OR dark; and an accent fabric/medium-dark. Important: they must all CONTRAST with each other.

You Will Also Need:

  • Sewing machine
  • Rotary cutting tools
  • Scissors
  • Thread
  • Iron and ironing board
