Pattern Description:
Garden Trellis is an original quilt pattern for a table runner or wall hanging and six placemats with a "stained glass" look, made without using bias tape. Choose a colour-way and collect fabrics in a variety of shades from light to dark; batiks or tone on tone prints work well. Extra shades may be used to add interest to the optional pieced border.
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- 16" x 40 1/2" runner
- 12 1/4" x 17 1/2" placemats
Materials:
- 2 1/4" strip light-1 (innermost square/lightest shade)
- 3/8 yd or .4 m light-2
- 1/2 yd or .5 m medium-1
- 5" square medium-2
- 3/8 yd or .4 m dark
- 1 3/4 yd or 1.6 m black (grout, zinger & binding)
- 5/8 yd or .6 m scraps in a variety of shades for pieced border or
- 5/8 yd or .6 m border fabric for solid border option
- 1 3/4 yd or 1.6 m backing
- crib batting
You Will Also Need:
- Neutral 100% cotton sewing thread
- Rotary cutter and ruler
- Quilting thread to match fabrics

I love seeing another quilter's version of my designs!
My patterns often incorporate completely original blocks, or at the very least new twists on standard blocks. I have three types of designs - folded back bias curves, geometrics using "grout", and tessellations. So far I have not incorporated curved piecing or applique, but that may come!
I have an engineering degree and am a retired geophysicist; perhaps that is why I love the geometry of quilting! I hope that you will enjoy stitching up some of my designs.
