Hi. I am Karen Pior and Sew Well Maide is where I wear my business hat. I also have other hats - Mother to five, Wife to one (!!!), Sister, Daughter, Friend. My hats are interchangable or, as frequently happens, worn precariously stacked on top of each other!!
I am passionate about all things fabric and textile. I love drafting my own patterns and then sewing beautiful, unique and individual garments from them. This has become my latest obsession passion! I love patchwork quilts both modern and antique. I love the excitement of designing quilts and accessories and stacks of fabric bolts give me a quiet little thrill!
I teach pattern drafting, sewing, quilting and crochet to all who are interested in dipping their creative fingers into all these pies! It is wonderful to see the excitement of accomplishment on the faces of my students.
Knitting is my nirvana. The click clack of the needles is both soothing and peaceful. It quietens a busy mind and lulls me into another world full of possibilities or nothing in particular!!! Crocheting is so quick and produces such wonderful textures that I can't resist it. When I hang out on Ravelry and Flickr I am known as Knitting Maide.
When time allows I love reading, veggie gardening and watching tv. And I try to never, ever miss an opportunity to yell and cheer as the football, soccer, cricket and ballet Mum.
This is a listing for my Fancy Wonky Cross Quilt Pattern ~ a funky quilt block design using modern fabrics, and is suitable for all levels of quilters and sewers - if you can sew a straight line then this is the pattern for you! (it is not as difficult as you might think) It does require experience in rotary cutting. It is composed of half square triangles, squares and rectangles.
The fabric used is the complete range of Flea Market Fancy - New Legacy Reprint by Denyse Schmidt. These are beautiful fabrics with a retro/vintage look. However, the pattern is equally suited to any style of fabric from reproduction to 1930's to romantic florals.
The pattern is for a quilt sized 60" x 72" (150cm x 180cm). However, this could be easily adjusted by simply adding or subtracting blocks or adding borders.
The written pattern has been tested by a beginner quilter to ensure ease of understanding of the instructions. Photographs are provided for all steps of the construction process to give clear and precise information on all sewing steps. The usual line diagrams have NOT been used at all. Handy hints and tips which will assist in the successful completion of this quilt have been added throughout the pattern.
The pattern supplies:
All fabric requirements
Sewing and basic patchwork hints
Layout and Assembly instructions
Tips for the completion of your quilt
This listing is for a quilt pattern - pdf file - which will be emailed directly to you upon payment.
