This unique runner, with its leaves floating above the background and border, makes a great fall centerpiece. Rolled back bias edges create curves with no curved piecing.
The fabric yardage yields four identical maple leaves and 2 identical oak leaves. For a scrappier look, use a variety of 9" x 10" scraps for maple leaves and 12" squares for oak leaves. Avoid directional prints for the leaf and background fabrics because the fabrics will be cut and sewn on various angles. Note that maple fabrics should contrast well with both the background and border fabrics. Fabric requirements are based on 40" usable width.
The pattern includes instructions for six placemats with three colour options.

At the request of my guild, I started publishing my patterns in 2011. My pattern testers, customers and students have been very happy with their results using my new patterns. My patterns often incorporate completely original blocks, or at the very least new twists on standard blocks. I have three types of designs - folded back bias curves, geometrics using "grout", and tessellations. So far I have not incorporated curved piecing or applique, but that may come!
I have an engineering degree and am a retired geophysicist; perhaps that is why I love the geometry of quilting! I hope that you will enjoy stitching up some of my designs.
